Yes, I can see you're here Pattie Belle. I was talking up your book with a photographer friend yesterday. He uses acrobat for displaying much of his layout work for clients, Raul Pedroso.
I've been finished for the spring semester with grades turned in already. This week I'm volunteering (although I NEED money) preparing the space and hanging an exhibition for the Haitian Cultural Alliance. My friend Edouard Duval-Carrie asked me to help install the show. One of his collectors who owns a photo supply store is where I saw Raul (I've known him for 10 yrs). Even though I'm not creating any art, I'm still connected to things going on in Miami.
Did I mention that I've resigned my position as Editor of MiamiArtExchange? I've volunteered for over a year and now it's time for someone else to step up. Have they? Humph! What do you think? Miami only wants to believe Art Basel Miami Beach put them on the world stage. However, it was only those few days and now everything has gone back to normal, or worse. We haven't have a meeting since before Art Basel because the unaffiliated artists were supposed to sit in the *free* gallery called the Living Room Bldg. which was donated by Craig Robbins and additional monies forked out by Bernice Steinbaum. Not a single artist sat a single day for the entire month which featured Art Basel Miami Beach and Art Miami (Dec-Jan). No, I was not selected to exhibit (my work doesn't fit in Miami). I didn't enter the competition for exhibition space. I did last year by request and was rejected. Don't ask me and then reject me. I don't enter competitions! Anyway, where we go from here should be determined at a meeting I'm now trying to schedule because Bernice Steinbaum refuses to spend her time and money on ungrateful artists and I don't blame her. She was the force behind MiamiArtExchange in the first place.
Please do check out the site as there's a heated discussion going on over what should happen with Miami Art Museum. There is also another huge problem on the table... Florida Philharmonic is about to fold just as the NEW Performing Arts Center is being built. They need $500,000 before the end of May or they're history. *sigh* I need to MOVE... but, I need to complete my burial project and my vulture project before leaving Florida. Pray for me it happens quickly!
