More than six degrees separate us. An e-mail experiment has confirmed the famous 'six degrees of separation' of human social networks, but revealed that individuals don't necessarily benefit from their connectedness.

World's best collection of logos!

I've been published in the local paper finally. I've been published in ArtPapers before, and been editor of Miamiartexchange.com for a year and a half where my interaction with the visual art community seems to have more impact than my visual production. My first newspaper publication was in Ft. Pierce, FL., where I wrote a weekly column.

Writing my article in the Miami New Times I, of course, couldn't mention my own situation. Seems strange with all the things the Vermont College faculty said about my work to have returned to Miami to silence and blank stares. I almost felt like I wasted my time and money. At least I was getting shows before getting my MFA.

I guess part of the problem is my own making by having redirected some of my energy outdoors. Galleries are in the business of selling "objects," not ideas, even if those "objects" only have a dictionary of spiel under them to keep them afloat. In some ways I wish things could have been a bit different during grad school but as now, my income is next to zero and art cannot be produced without some financing. Even travel expenses, hotel, food, camera supplies, etc., cost something.

At least I can say having my MFA has allowed me to get a job at the University and make the most money I've ever made in my life. Designing web sites has kept me afloat this summer, thank goodness. Although, I'm behind in all my bills this month as I haven't been paid by clients yet. I'll be alright when the checks start coming...

The Museum of Hoaxes

Hey Jide,
The Tide Pool looks beautiful! I am so glad you could make use of it. I am back in New Haven and getting geared up for the new school year and new projects. Sad to hear of Roy's (Fearless Leader) passing. I am so glad I got a chance to have him in my life for that brief moment... more later...

Did Pattie Belle see her "tide pool" cover image on Miamiartexchange.com? It looks awesome! There was an opening last night and my new photo editor took pics. He's trading pics for ad links to his site. He wanted to get paid ads but I offered him something beneficial to both of us. He gets ads, links, and traffic to his site. I get quality digital images, and traffic to MAeX (which is what will drive more paid ads). 1st cover image was from an artist in Seattle, now Pattie Belle (currently in Norway), next will be an artist in Australia. I'm totally excited! Thanks Pattie Belle.

Don't forget to see the children's drawings!
